May 4th at Concert Band will perform at 11:30 AM Canon City High School

May 4th Marching Band will step off at 1:30 PM in Canon City on Main street

All City Honor Band Concert

What: All City Middle/High School Honor Band Concert

Where: South High School

When: Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

This concert is free and open to the public.  We will see you there.

Education Foundation D-60 Jazz Festival

Who: RSA Jazz Band performance

What: – Education Foundation Jazz Festival

Where: East High School

When: February 13, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.

The Roncalli Jazz Band will play early.  Students need to be at EAST with instrument and music by 6:00PM. 

D60 middle school jazz bands are the first half of the concert then followed by the high school jazz bands and finished out with CSUP Jazz ensemble. 

Students/Parents are responsible for getting to and from EAST there will be no district transportation.

This is a fund raising event - $5 tickets for family/ friends and general public at the door. RSA jazz band musicians get in free.

RSA Jazz band will dress in the all black uniform for this performance.

Music Parent/Booster Meeting

There will be a Music Parent/Booster meeting this Friday, January 11th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held in the Roncalli Music Room #23.  The purpose of the meeting is to discuss fundraising opportunities and ways parents can get involved and support our music program.

Winter Concert at RSA Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

RSA Winter Concert Tuesday, December 18, 2018

RSA Auditorium, 6:00 PM   Call Time for students 5:30 PM in the music room.

Groups performing: Beginning band, Beginning and Advanced Strings, Concert Band, Jazz Band, drumline, flag team and riffle team.

If a students has an issues with going home and coming back by 6:00 pm they may stay at school and not go home before the concert. They need to wait in the music room or be supervised by a teacher until it is call time for the concert.

This is a required graded performance and part of the performing music student’s grade. Only in the case of an emergency will a student be excused from the performance and allowed to miss. Mr. Smith will need a written or verbal explanation from that student’s parent or guardian in order for a student to make their points.

Concert uniform, plain black long sleeve button down dress shirt, plain black pants (preferably cotton kaki style) plain  black socks and plain black tennis shoes or casual shoes. White ties will be provided for the performance and turned in to Mr. Smith at the end of each performance.

Many of the clothing items can be purchased at local discount stores like, Walmart or local second hand stores like the ARC

Mr. Smith and the school will help those that have a problem getting any of the clothing items. Please let Mr. Smith know in advance and not the day of the performance.

Parade of Lights 2018

To: Parents/Guardians, Marching Band, Flags, Rifles and Banner.

What: The Parade is November 24th call time 4:00 PM. All parade contestants must be in place by 4:30 PM Parade begins at 5:30 PM

Where: The corner of Colorado and Evans. Roncalli is #11 in the parade. Roncalli should step off shortly after 5:30 PM and end around 6:30 PM. 

Students should be dropped off at the corner of Quincy and Evans. Student can walk to the designated spot on Colorado (see map). Vehicles will not be allowed into the parade line-up area to drop-off participants.  

The Parade will begin at Colorado and Abriendo, proceed down the hill to Union Avenue and continue on Union to Main Street and Main to 6th Street where it will end near the downtown Pueblo Bank & Trust, on the corner of 6th & Court (Please see the Pueblo Parade of Lights website for parade route).

Parents make arrangements to pick-up students at the end of the parade route around 6:30 PM!! Have cell phones ready and a designated meeting place to pick up your child.

Extra parking is available in the Downtown area at PB&T Motor Bank lot at 2nd & Court and Pueblo Chamber at 4th & Santa Fe

UNIFORMS

Marching Band/Drumline/Flags: Roncalli black button down dress shirt or black polo with a long sleeve black shirt under it, solid black pants (no designs) solid black socks and solid black tennis/casual shoes.

Drummers may decorate their drums with wrapping paper, lights, bows, garland. ect….  

All members are encouraged to accessorize with lights and holiday decorations. Do not bring your own Santa/Holiday hats. Santa hats will be provided and must be turned in to Mr. Smith at the end of the parade.

Dress according to the weather!! If it is cold wear clothing items that will keep you warm. Thermals, long sleeves, coats, earmuffs, scarfs, gloves. If wearing gloves check to see if you can play in them. You may need to find an inexpensive light pair that you can cut the finger tips off so you can play your instrument.

Dress Warm!!

Students are responsible for taking and bringing back their instruments/equipment. Unless the student has prearranged for Mr. Smith to take the instrument. Do not leave anything behind at the end of the route!!

Check the Parade of Lights Website or the School website if you need to be reminded of any information!

Parent volunteers that would like to accompany the band on the route to help in anyway including taking care of a student that may need to fall out are welcome please text or call Mr. Smith.

Roncalli STEM Academy Dress Code

RONCALLI STEM ACADEMY DRESS CODE

Roncalli STEM Academy has implemented a simplified school dress code that utilizes a professional look that represents the strong educational focus that embodies a STEM Academy.  Based on surveys, parent meetings, and staff input we moved to a dress code that consists of only black polo’s and khaki pants.  These items can be purchased at Embroidery Plus at 501 West Street (719-542-0234).  . We here at Roncalli STEM Academy are very excited for the upcoming school year and the continuing changes for school improvement.

*Update for 2018-2019:  In addition to the black polo shirt and khaki pants, Roncalli STEM students are also permitted to wear a Roncalli logo sweatshirt or black Roncalli zip up jacket. Zip up jacket is sold at Embroidery Plus.   (black polo shirts must be worn under).
