SPELLING BEE CHAMPION
Congratulations to Steffi Roybal, an 8th grader at Roncalli, for winning the Pueblo City Schools Spelling Bee.  Middle school students from throughout the District were represented.  Steffi won for spelling the word "bureaucracy".  State competition is next for Steffi.  The winners are:


1.  First place--Steffi Roybal-8th grader--Roncalli Middle School
2.  Second place--Hannah Allen--8th grader--Goodnight School

Four other students qualified for State.

The Roncalli Community is very proud of Steffi and her great accomplishment.   We all wish Steffi good luck at State competition...keep up the good work.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
PLEASE NOTE:

February 15, 2010- Holiday, NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
February 16, 2010- Parent / Teacher conferences-NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
 
Parent/Teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Parents, we encourage you to come meet your child’s teachers. Conferences will be held on a first come, first serve basis and will be limited to  
approximately 10 minutes.
 
Conference times:
12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
**Teachers will take a break from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.**
 
QUARTER 2 AWARDS ASSEMBLY
Please mark your calendars!

The Awards Assembly for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will be held on 2-9-10.  Please note the following times:

1.  6th grade--7:40am to 8:10am
2.  8th grade--8:35am to 9:05am
3.  7th grade--9:30am to 10:00am

We hope to see you there in support of all the excellent students at Roncalli Middle School.

Upon entering the building, the Policies and Procedures of Roncalli Middle School require all parents/visitors to report to the main office and sign in. 
SITE BASED MEETINGS
PLEASE NOTE:  Site Based Committee Members are reminded that meetings take place on the 1st Thursday of ever month.  Looking forward to seeing you there.
 

RONCALLI BAND/INSTRUMENTAL PERFORMANCES

                     

November 20th Time: (TBA) Jazz Band Concert: Jazz Band I and II

 (during the school day only)

 

December 15th 7:00 p.m. Band Concert: Symphonic Band and Concert Band, Beginning Band

 
March 2nd 7:00 p.m. Band Concert: Symphonic Band

 

May 20th 7:00 p.m.  Band Concert: Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, Jazz I and II.

 

Most of the above concerts will have a school day performance with the exact time TBA.  I will inform students and parents of any changes or additions if they occur.

 

RONCALLI RETURNS TO ORIGINAL DRESS CODE
With the onset of the 2009-2010 school year, Roncalli will be returning to the dress code we initiated five or six years ago.  Shirts and tops will need to be adorned with a Roncalli logo.  No plain tops or logos other than Roncalli will be allowed.  There is no restriction on pants and shorts as long as they are appropriate and meet District Dress Code Standards.

Roncalli wear can be purchased from DCL Embroidery or any other vendor who has school specific uniform wear.

As in the past, acceptable colors for tops will be Green, Black, Gray, and White (including Hoodies) with the Roncalli logo only.  All other aspects of appropriate wear reflected in the District and School Dress code still apply.

Parents can review Dress Code Policies by doing the following:
1.  Log onto the Roncalli Home Page...click on Schools... then Middle...then Roncalli.  Now on the left hand side menu, click on Students...then click on Student Planner and scroll to Page 3.
2.  While on the Pueblo City Schools Web Page, click on Students...then Student Conduct and Discipline Code 08-09 and scroll to Page 26-27.
